BillWise — Privacy Policy

This policy is specific to BillWise. For Nuzedd’s umbrella policy covering all apps, see the Nuzedd Privacy Policy.

1. Who this policy applies to

This Privacy Policy describes how the BillWise Android application handles information. It applies to anyone who installs or uses the app.

2. Information we collect

We do not collect any personal information. BillWise has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, no crash-reporting SDKs, and no developer-operated backend server.

3. Information stored on your device

Everything you enter into BillWise stays on your device only. This includes:

• Your recurring and one-time payments (name, amount, currency, category, dates)
• Payment history and logs
• Reminder settings
• App preferences (currency, date format, theme)

No bank account connection is required or requested. All data is entered manually and stays on your device. This data is removed when you delete it in-app or uninstall the app. We never receive a copy of it.

4. Optional Google Drive backup (Pro feature)

The Pro version includes an optional encrypted Google Drive backup. This feature is optional and only runs when you choose to back up or restore.

• Backups are stored in your own Google Drive, inside the hidden application data folder (appDataFolder) — not visible in your normal Drive file list
• Your backup is encrypted on your device using AES-256-GCM before it is uploaded
• We operate no servers and have no access to your Google account or your backups
• You can delete your backups from within BillWise, or by removing the app’s data from your Google account

5. Google Sign-In

To use Drive backup, you sign in with your Google account. BillWise requests only the permission needed to manage its own backup files — nothing else. We do not store your Google account details on any server.

6. Excel export

BillWise lets you export your payment history to an Excel file. This action is initiated entirely by you. We have no visibility into where you send it.

7. Notifications

BillWise sends local notifications for payment reminders and status updates (such as a payment auto-logged as unpaid, or an expiry date reached). These notifications are generated entirely on your device, based on data already stored on your device. No data leaves your device to generate them.

8. Purchases (Google Play Billing)

The Pro upgrade is a one-time in-app purchase processed entirely by Google Play Billing. We never see or receive your payment details.

9. Permissions the app requests

• Internet — used only for the optional Google Drive backup/restore and for processing the Pro purchase
• Notifications — used to show payment reminders and status updates
• Schedule exact alarms — used to deliver payment reminders at the specific time you set for each payment. Required on Android 12+
• Receive boot completed — used to re-schedule your reminders after your device restarts
• Ignore battery optimizations (optional) — you may be asked to exempt BillWise from battery optimization so reminders stay reliable; this is optional and can be granted or revoked from Android’s Settings at any time

10. Third-party services

BillWise relies on the following Google services only when you use the relevant optional features: Google Play Billing, Google Sign-In, and Google Drive. See Google’s Privacy Policy.

11. Data retention and deletion

On-device data remains until you delete it in the app or uninstall BillWise. Drive backups remain until you delete them. Because we hold none of your data ourselves, there is nothing for us to retain or delete on your behalf.

12. Children’s privacy

BillWise is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
